Elysian Park

Elysian Park, giclee print, 40” x 60”,  2005

Large format, composited digital photograph appropriating famous war photographs staged by the US military.  The three characters, who are the 3 collaborators of Fallen Fruit, climb a cliff above the city of Los Angeles.  Equipped with hoses and shovels they carry fruit trees towards the viewer, as if arriving to liberate public space, but with fruit trees in place of flags.  Their expressions of determination and concern call into question the authenticity of image making, our relationship to propaganda and media, as well as the possibility of finding liberty through public fruit.
