Endless Orchard

Endless Orchard, outdoor public installation, LACMA, 2010

A site-specific public installation of citrus trees in a grid resembling a traditional orchard. On two sides, perfectly mirrored walls create an illusion of endlessness, as if the orchard covers far more than it actually does. Reflecting on the relation between the city and its food, it also echoes the history of Los Angeles and Hollywood, much of which were once devoted to orange orchards. The mirrors remind us of LA’s current focus in the creation of dreams and illusions.
